Spanish vs American culture
Spanish and American cultures have very different holidays, food and more. But there are also many similarities between the two countries. Spain and America are on opposite continents and they are both unique and different in their own special ways.
Probably the biggest difference between Spanish and American culture is the schedule. In Spain the day starts at 10am and ends at midnight no matter the age. In America the day begins at 7am and ends at 9pm. In Spain they also do “siesta” every day from 2pm to 4pm and in that time the stores close and everyone rests for two hours before getting back to work again. In American culture there is definitely no siesta time and nobody really naps.
In America most people live in a two or three story house but in Spain everybody lives in “pisos” which are apartment flats. Americans also go everywhere in cars whereas in Spain people walk to the grocery store, the mall, the church and everywhere inbetween. In America children are not allowed to cuss and even adults don't cuss unless they stub their toe or if they’re angry. But in Spain a two year old might fall off their bike and say the F-word in Spanish (JODER!). Everyone swears in Spain.
Spanish and American cultures also have similarities. Both countries have running water and electricity. They also have strong wifi everywhere. Another similarity is that a lot of food served in both countries is fried. Spain and America both have very few stray dogs and pets are treated and kept well.
Spain and America have lots of differences and similarities but both countries are unique and amazing in their own ways. I like American culture because it's what I grew up with but I also like Spanish culture because it's different and exciting!
